Have I mentioned how amazing it is to reunite with Rochester friendies?
You might recall that Rachel and her family were super gracious and allowed Nolan and me to bunk with them during our visit to Roch last October. In the time I was living there, our lives didn't have a chance to cross paths very often, but it is wonderful to have had these opportunities to grow as friends even since -- and I now count Rachel as treasured as any one of my dear Rochester girlfriends. God is good like that, isn't He?
Luckily for me, Hans attended an anesthesia conference in Scottsdale, prompting their visit. He and Rachel left the bigger kids (Kaia and Thor) with grandparents in MN and toted 7 month old not-so-Baby Brita along for the trip. On one of Hans' busy afternoons, Rachel and Brita came over to pass nap time; we were glad they did.
Don't Brita and Nolan make an awfully cute couple? How fitting for Valentine's weekend ;)
It was amazing to me to watch Brita and realize that Nolan was her age when we moved from Rochester. They're still so little at that stage! Not 100% at sitting up, just beginning to crawl, double napping, nursing and starting solid foods... No wonder I felt so limited in what we could do! Gave me some good perspective in hindsight. They are a joy at every stage, but that stage definitely had its limitations as I was trying to find some quick community in the summer heat. Whew!
While the babes napped, we lounged on my back porch - chatting and sweating. It was unseasonably hot this weekend, but I sure didn't hear Rachel complain!
When the kids woke, we made our way to their resort's pool. Ahhhh - it was glorious!
Arizona wintertime is the beez kneez.
Sviggum kids can tell whole stories using only their eyebrows.
Brita gets excited and whips over backwards without warning. Rachel is ever-vigilent --- a back-breaking job if ever there was one!
The sun is setting, and purple lips means it's time to wrap things up.
Rachel, thank you for using one of your prized vacation days to hang out with us. I love that you love Scottsdale. Now just move here. :)
Praising God for you, my friend. Can't wait for next time!

Ah! Makes me so happy, and a tinge jealous (even though I was just there two weeks ago...I already want to go back!)
ReplyDeleteThree things: 1) Nolan is so handsome with his hair cut! 2) I can see Izzy and I are going to have to visit soon to keep the girlfriend status up... 3) Miss you, too!
