Nana, Papa and Mokie

My mom, dad and grandma Mokie came for a well-timed but too short visit this week.

Nana barely got in the door on Wednesday before Nolan was hitting her up for some book reading.  He knows a good portion of this 100 Words book and was looking to show off!

 Whose big boy is that?!
Papa's turn ----  I said, "Where are your teeth?!" - and they both responded.  ha!
I have vivid memories of my dad doing this same foot-eating-tickle thing to my feet, and it gives me shivers thinking of it!  (To be clear, those memories are not from this week......)

Mokie isn't the biggest dog person, but Khaki wasn't letting that stop her.  (do you like the gap-bridge stunt?)
"What?  I'm not actually ON her lap....."
 Bedtime reading and snuggles.

Thursday and Friday were pretty much pool days.  Thankfully it was perfect pool weather both days --- not so hot the pool felt like a bath but plenty warm to want a dip.
About every 20 mins or so, we have to plunk the dogs in the water so they don't overheat.  Scarlett is not a fan!

 Lovely day.
After nap, Mokie went with me to run a few errands, which included getting her first ever Cherry Limeade!  I told her that her 88 years are now complete.  :)
Mokie wasn't safe from book reading duties either.
Poor Mikel had a late night Thursday but I think he was glad to see that a great dinner was awaiting him when we got home: Steak!
He was on call all week, so we didn't get to see as much of him as we would have liked.  Thank you, Mikel, for your hard work and for providing for us.

Friday morning: Breakfast with Friends.  Nolan has recently been refusing yogurt, and even Mokie couldn't convince him to try it.
Same song, different verse.  We live a rough life.
 I love this photo!
This pic exemplifies the difference between these crazy pups: Khaki flying through the air after her toy, and Scarlett scrambling desperately to get to my mom or the steps.  Ha!

 Poor Scarlett...
 hilarious!
This boy loves his outdoor showers!

I told my dad that he looked like he had been playing with the pool toys.  :)
Heading for nap shortly... First had to strip down and shower off the sunscreen.  Mokie couldn't resist snagging a little nekkidy kiss.
Nana swimming some laps --- Nolan was mesmerized at her "ki-ckiiiing!  ki-ckiiiing!"
....aaaaand so he got back in.  (funny glasses, Nana!)
 "ki-ckiiiiing!!"

Mikel got home in time to actually visit a bit Friday evening.  Thankful for that time.
"Nummyyyyyyy!"

And then, before I could stop him, this happened...  Yes, those are his jammies.
Oh well.
How many cool mom points do I earn for this?
He earned his 2nd round of nekkid swimming and his 3rd outdoor shower for the day.  Probably his plan all along!

 Delicious ribs and beloved family.
Nolan would not eat the rib meat if we cut it up on his tray --- only off the bone!
Mokie and I played SkipBo every evening they were here.  I loved it!  She is ruthless in it, and her tactics finally paid off --- she creamed me in both games on our last night.
I have soooo many memories of playing this with her at our farm in Rhea.  Glad we had the chance to walk memory lane a little.
*****
Like I said, this visit was too short, but so thankful it could be had at all.  Thank you, Mom, Dad and Mokie for helping to bridge the gap between us.  We can't wait for next time!
