Sedona round 2!

About a month ago on a beautiful Sunday morning, Mikel and I were getting ready for church when we looked out the window at the lovely day and instantly agreed: we had to get outside together as a family.  The weather was finally improving and he had a weekend off/home, so we switched gears, strapped on our tennis shoes, packed a picnic and loaded the crew up for Sedona.  And we were so glad we did...

Khaki loves car rides
Scarlett, not so much...
We reached Red Rock Crossing and started things off with lunch.
What a beautiful, fall hike awaited us.

Sedona is a very mystical, new age place.  So unfortunate to think of the misguided souls who sit among this beautiful creation...
Our hike was marked by these little "prayer gardens".
All I could think was:
1) of Charlie Schmitt stacking cars on tops of each other.
2) of how the Schmitt kids would rip this things apart.  ha!
and 3) what a waste of time it was for someone to stack hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of these rocks in search of the "vortex".  Yikes.

I picked up one of the little rocks just to be sure it was really balancing and not somehow secured there.  Apparently this is a no-no.

Right after this photo was taken, Khaki just launched herself off of the rocks and into the river for a swim.  Thank goodness she was on leash!

After a lot of hiking, it was time to load up with a happy boy...
... and two tired pups.

Had to stop for a snack on the way out!
"Um, YES I want fries with that!"

Glad we chose to be spontaneous and take advantage of this type of worship just this one Sunday.
Good for the body, Good for the soul.
