This isn't quite as impressive as the snake, but just had to capture this amazing and a little bit scary animal that seems to like our neck of the woods. (mostly just scary for the pups - we make them come inside around dusk!)
I feel like the photo doesn't capture how big this lady is. We had heard this family of owls calling to each other before - and been warned about them by our neighbors - but we had never seen one perched so close to our house. Beautiful - but like I said, makes me keep the doxies close!
